I'm a woman in her 50s who is a book conservator at a London-based, nationally significant library and archive. I also read, write, and edit professionally. Heritage salaries are low and do not stretch far in today's rental market hence (max 1300/month ) the longer lead time.
About me
I'm a clean and tidy person. I live quietly. I know how to use a door handle rather than slamming doors. I do not smoke. I have a long-term partner (16+ years) and we live separately as he cares for a relative with long-term medical conditions. I spend time at museums, theatre and travelling. I spend chunks of time being an onsite cat sitter specialising in elderly cats who require medication including a crew of three former New York street cats.
Why am I looking for new accommodation?
After over ten years of renting a tiny studio flat, a modified Victorian terrace front room, my private landlords retired, returned to London and are taking back possession of the building to revert into a single family home for them and their adult children.
Preferences
Neighbourhoods
If London is a clock, I'm happy to live 11.00 to 18.00. Neighbourhoods like Hammersmith, etc. are great but too far west for my relationship. I have crossed the river, living north in Crouch End, east in Leyton (before the Olympics), south in Peckham and West Norwood.
I'm looking for an unfurnished studio or one bedroom with own bathroom and kitchen. I'm too mature to return to a house share. I did that while earning my Master's degree. Watching EastEnders over a bottle of red just isn't my thing. I have my own furniture, dishes and art.
