My beautiful narrow boat is for rent. An ideal space for someone who wants to live in London.
I love living on the canal, but have to move away for work. If you are interested in life on the cut this could be for you. I can't tell you how much I enjoy life afloat. It is a great community and great camaraderie. If you have not lived on a boat before I will show you the ropes.
It is a great, and cheaper, way to live. Your rent will include all fees to keep the boat on the water (licence, safety cert etc) it will also include basic repairs, although I hope you will also look after the boat and attend to day to day maintenance.
Your costs in addition to the rent will be diesel and gas, both of which will be negligible, dependent on useage. (I paid less than £200 all last year)
Please note it is a lifestyle choice rather than just cheaper accommodation.
The 46ft boat has a large front deck, which you can sit out on. It also has a bike lock to secure your bike.
Stepping into the boat there is an open lounge/galley area that has a fixed sofa that converts to a guest bed. There is tons of storage under the deck and sofa. I have a collapsible table and chairs too. There is a solid fuel stove that keeps the place toasty. The galley has a double sink, 4 ring hob, oven and grill. There is also a 12/240v fridge. Next is the refurbished bathroom with shower and porta potti; and then the cabin. With a raised cabin bed that has a floordrobe and dresser underneath, and more storage.
In the back cabin is the engine and boating stuff.
I have solar panels to charge the batteries, the new engine has a two alternators that ensure that the batteries are easily charged. It has an inverter so mains electric appliances can be used. A massive water tank that last me months.
The boat, like 90% of boats in London, does not have a permanent mooring so as a continuous cruiser you will need to move every fortnight.. Over a year I tend to mooch, slowly, from Brentford to Tottenham Lock. Through Ealing,, Paddington, Camden, Islington Broadway Markey on to Old Ford Lock. I tend to do a circuit around Victoria Park, Limehouse, Wapping up to Bow and on to eel pie island. You can move it anywhere on the London canal network. It is fantastic, how else could you get to live in all those groovy places?
I tend to cycle everywhere.
The boat is available now.
Viewings can be arranged for Sunday afternoon and Monday. Have a think if this is something that you could commit to and drop me a line.
