Historical flat built in the 1960s with original detail. The building inspired J. G. Ballards 'High Rise' and remains a significant landmark of brutalist architecture.
This listing is for the entire flat. There are two bedrooms, one is used as an office, a large eat-in kitchen, livingroom, entrance, and a balcony.
Short term sublet July - Aug.
The Space
Located in a Grade II listed modernist building with lots of original architectural details. Spectacular view of London from the walls of windows. Large balcony.
The building attracts lots of artists, academics, designers, architects, writers, etc.
The building is currently being restored so although it has many tenants some of the flats on our floor are empty. The landlords are really hands-off and it feels more like an artists loft than a refurbed city boy flat (ie DIY).
The Neighborhood
Great outdoor market with inexpensive food two minute walk from flat, 10 minute walk to Billings Gate Fish Market and Canary Wharf. Good transportation links, 20 mins to Bank on the DLR. Mostly a residential area though there are regular artistic activities, film screenings, private views, etc. Quick bus ride/bike to Victoria Park, Bethnal Green, etc.
We have an easy-going indoor persian cat. If you have experience with cats, that's a plus but not necessary.
Please send a short introduction about yourself to arrange a viewing. Or 'add interest' and we will reply asap.
